Cereal offender withdraws advertisements
The Advertising Standards Board has found that two of Kellogg’s advertisements were in breach of their own regulations. The advertisements were deemed to be targeting children and Kellogs has withdrawn them from circulation.
Kellog’s has once again found itself running afoul of its own regulations after a complaint from advocacy group Obesity Policy Coalition was upheld. This is the second time in two weeks that the company has been ordered by the Advertising Standards Board to withdraw a TV advertisement. A spokesperson for Kellog’s says they respect the ASB’s decision but note that no consumers had complained about the advertising.An advocacy group points out that there have been no consumer complaints because the industry-regulated code governing such complaints is unnecessarily complex and difficult to navigate.
