Centrelink is now the most complained about government department in Australia. There have been more than 62,000 reported grievances in the past financial year – a 35 percent increase in just two years. As well as website meltdowns, the number of calls answered by Centrelink has dropped by three million in one year. Personal stories of frustration describe the difficulty of accessing Centrelink payments, and reports indicate a decline in basic human services delivery.
