Australia’s highest ranking Catholic official – Cardinal George Pell has been testifying at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses into Child Sexual Abuse. While Cardinal Pell has admitted the church has made mistakes, child abuse victim advocacy groups are frustrated with Pell not doing enough to compensate victims. Instead, the cardinal has been pointing out that Australian clergies are doing a better job at acknowledging the church’s problems than the Vatican.
