Carbon pricing debate continues

There was much ado about carbon pricing today with a report, commissioned by the Government, recommending a starting price of $40 per tonne of greenhouse emissions. The Government held a multi-party climate change committee meeting today, but will not specify a price for carbon until July. Climate Change Minister Greg Combet rejected the $40 price, stating it would most certainly be lower. Greens senator Christine Milne supported the price and called for an increase to promote large scale adoption of renewable energy. So is a starting price of $40 a reasonable price to charge for carbon emissions?
