The amount of carbon dioxide measured in the atmosphere in the Arctic has reached record highs. According to measurements taken by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the amount of CO2 reached 400 parts per million at remote sites in Barrow, Alaska. Climate scientists say that a dangerous measurement of carbon dioxide is 450 parts per million. They say if fossil fuels continue to be omitted at a similar rate; it is inevitable that we will pass that mark.

Because CO2 is the most significant greenhouse gas contributing to climate change, scientists have called this a troubling milestone. Experts say it’s hard to communicate the enormity of the situation while many Australians are experiencing ‘climate fatigue.’
