‘You can’t show that on TV’ according to new study

In March 2017, internet streaming giant, Netflix released a new program, 13 Reasons Why, which was quickly surrounded by controversy due to its ‘glorification’ of suicide and other sensitive themes.

With a second series already confirmed despite these concerns, the US TV series is clearly not the first to raise receive negative attention about portraying sensitive themes to the world, but will it be one of the last?

A new study released by the British Medical Journal has used the show as a basis for its request for a re-evaluation on what is considered appropriate to show on television.
