Its hard to imagine why any elite sportsperson would want to smoke dope. Cannabis is hardly a performance enhancing substance. But three state level baseballers have been banned from their sport after testing positive earlier in January. Richard Ings from the Australian Sport Anti Doping Authority says cannabis should be treated like any other drug and be tested for. Paul Dillon from the Australian Drug and Alcohol Council says although it seems unfair that a drug that doesn’t enhance performance and stays in the system for weeks should be tested for it just means sportsmen have to exercise more self restraint than the average young person.
