This week the Pope and the Canadian Prime Minister have followed in Kevin Rudd’s footsteps by offering sympathies to Indigenous Canadians who were mistreated by previous administrations. The treatment of Indigenous Canadians has similarities to Australia’s history, children were removed from their homes and sent to schools to be integrated into white society. The apology is long awaited and significant for many Indigenous Canadians.
