Some serious allegations have been raised about the practice of organ harvesting in China, with a Canadian report claiming that organs are being seized from unwilling Falun Gong practioners, being held in Chinese detention centres. The claims, made in a report released by Canadian human rights lawyer David Matas and former Canadian secretary of state for Asia and the pacific David Kilgour, have been denied by the Chinese Embassy in Canada. The report is based on interviews as well evidence gathered by phone calls made to detention centers and transplant clinics in China. Mr Matas and Mr Kilgour conducted the research whilst working as unpaid volunteers at the request of the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in Washington.
