Mass blackouts during summer and soaring electricity prices are signs that the energy situation in Australia is in crisis mode.

The Grattan Institute released a report calling for urgent reform for the National Electricity Market before next summer, and the next wave of blackouts.

They are calling on the government to avoid one-off investments such as the Snowy 2.0 and instead develop market-based solutions that can ease the transition to renewable energy.
