On June 5, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt were among a number of countries in the Gulf region that severed ties with Qatar.

The decision is the result of a number of decisions by Qatar to sustain an autonomous foreign relations policy, including maintaining a relationship with Iran.

One avenue to resolving the stand-off could be found through the USA, who have strong interests in many of the region’s countries, including Qatar.
