At the University of Western Sydney students are in an uproar about podcast classes replacing face-to-face lectures. The subject at the heart of the controversy is “Texts and Traditions”, a humanities subject that was recently restructured, losing 5 face to face lectures to podcasting. The students say that podcasts are not an adequate replacement for lecturers. UWS student union President Steven Smith calls the decision ‘arbitrary’ and says that a supplementary system would be better.
