Calls to cut out dangerous trans fat

The Australian food authority is considering forcing food manufacturers to label products that contain a potentially harmful type of fat. A new study from the British Medical Journal has found that trans fatty acids increase the risk of heart disease by more than 20 per cent. In the US some health lobby groups are calling for a complete ban on Trans fats. Bill Shrapnel from The Dieticians Association of Australia believes Trans Fats are worse than saturated fats and should be disclosed on food packaging.
