Tomorrow is International Day of People with Disability. With peak travel season on the horizon, disability advocates are calling on the Federal Government to implement a national and standardised framework to improve accessibility in tourism.
Five and a half million Australians are at the core of accessible tourism, and though the Government has already introduced the National Disability Plan until 2031, state and territory governments often work to their own individual plans.
The inconsistency in approach and accessibility guidelines creates significant barriers for Australians with a disability, with the prospect of travel.
