TV networks face potentially embarrassing discrimination lawsuits when the current five-year agreement between TV networks and deaf support groups expires on May 28th. The Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission facilitated the 2003 agreement and are assessing the TV networks’ request for an interim six-month exemption to allow time for the completion of a federal government review of captioning.
