Today is World Refugee Day – a day which draws attention to the plight of more than 40 million refugees around the world. The past year has seen developments such as the Homestay initiative as well as the introduction of Complementary Protection Visas, steps which have been welcomed by refugee advocates. But there is still a strong view that Australia is being inundated by refugees, when our yearly intake is 13,750.Amnesty International is hoping the day will show Australians that we can do more to help.
