In the APY lands, each community is set up with one local store, where the people buy all of their groceries. Uniting Care Wesley has found non-perishable items to be twice the price as the same item and brand in capital cities. Manager of Indigenous Policy and Advocacy, Jonathan Nicholls, says items such as nappies are unaffordable.
