As the week wears on in Fiji, the fallout from the coup is starting to be understood as sanctions fall and major aid donors pull their funds from the military state. Commodore Voreque Bainimarama and care-taker Prime Minister, Jona Senilagakali are calling it “business as usual” but there’s a deep unease across Fiji as the military begins to remould the country. Fears that Fiji’s press would be censored in the wake of the bloodless coup were put to rest today. Managing Director of The Fiji Times, Tony Yianni, spoke to The Wire along with Professor Brij V Lal about getting on with “business as usual”.
