A group of bushfire survivors named ‘Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action’ have launched a legal action to force the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to address climate change.

Made up of survivors from a number of notable Australian bushfires such as Black Saturday in 2009 and Canberra fires in 2003, the group are being represented by the Environmental Defenders Office.

Wire reporter Patti Burton spoke to Jo Dodds, a survivor of the Tahra Bushfire (2018) and President of the ‘Bushfire Survivors for Climate Action’ group about her experience and why the group is taking legal action.
