France’s Lower House of Parliament has voted to ban Muslim women wearing face covering veils in public, as the country celebrates Bastille Day. Under the new Bill, which is believed to pass easily through the Upper House women will be fined over $200 AUS and those forcing someone to cover themselves up could face jail. This comes as movements to ban the garments are gathering support across Europe, Britain and Canada with the spotlight recently turned on Muslim women in Australia.
