On May 10th the Burmese military government will hold a referendum and push through a new constitution. It will be the country’s first national vote in 18 years, and the Australian Burmese community is warning that it will mean more repression. Spokesman for the Burma Campaign Australia Dr Kyaw Myint Malia says fear of military reprisals will force force Burmese citizens to vote in favour of a constitution that they don’t really want.
