It appears the Government is finally gaining a favourable wind.  Budget 2018 revenue appears to be up thanks to a resurgent world economy and concomitant robust commodity prices.

Will this mean that tax cuts are on the cards?  This being the last budget before a federal election would probably mean yes.  The survival instinct of the politician allied with the hip-pocket nerve of the voter together provides the most compelling argument that it will be so.

But can the budget address the growing disparity between rich and poor?  Chris Richardson Chief Economist from Deloitte Access Economics thinks that financial trends in world markets could play an even bigger role.
