Commentators are as split over this years budget as political parties themselves, with some calling it The Treasurer’s best yet and other saying it is his “Swan Song’. Not only was it minus the promised surplus, the $18 billion deficit in an election year has seen swags of criticism thrown at the ALP, despite Australia’s AAA credit rating, low interest rates and low inflation. It’s no wonder political commentator Bernard Keane is calling the budget ‘confused.’
