Belief in sorcecy or sanguma exists in all areas of Paupua New Guinean Society. Illness and death are often attributed to the work of a sorcerer. For those accused the results are often tragic.

In early Febuary a 20 year old women Kepari Leniata was tortured and burnt to death infront of crowd who took video and photos.She was accused of using sorcery kill a 6 year old boy.The women was one of many brutally murdered each year in PNG after being accused of sorcery.
