On a Spring Sunday in 1972 in LondonDerry, Northern Ireland, a civil rights demonstration marched through the cities Bogside, calling for Irish independence from British rule. Suddenly the British Parachute regiment opened fire on the crowd, instantly killing 13 and injuring 14 others. What happened that Bloody Sunday has been a source of tension and contention ever since. Now, after a twelve year long inquiry, two thousand five hundred witness statements and one hundred and ninety five million pounds, the Saville report into the 1972 Bloody Sunday killings in Northern Ireland has been handed down.
