Britain’s third inquiry into the Iraq war began today, amid criticism that it won’t investigate the legality of the Iraq invasion. Former Prime Minister Tony Blair will likely be blamed for undermining military preparations, by hiding a 2002 commitment to the United States’ plans for war from the Parliament and the public. However, human rights and international law appear to be safely outside the inquiry’s mandate. Some experts and members of the British public are predicting the inquiry will be another whitewash.
