Brisbane will host the International Day of Peace Lecture
On Monday September 21, the United Nations Association of Australia will host its 9th International Day of Peace Lecture in Brisbane.
This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the lecture will be streamed online and it will be free. Professor Gillian Triggs will be the keynote speaker this year as the Assistant High Commissioner for Protection in the United Nations.
The aim of the lecture is to continue raising awareness about human rights and peace within the community, who has a critical role in enforcing human rights.
Experts also say Australia is lagging in human rights protections, and the government should act accordingly to step up on the issue.
