The recent Malaysian elections marked the end of a sixty year regime for the Barisan Nasional coalition. 92 year old Mahathir Mohamad will rule in the short term and then hand over to former jailed rival Anwar Ibrahim. It was a result which took political analysts all over the world by surprise, and some believe means happier and more stable times ahead for the South East Asian country.
