A study has found that what your parents do can increase your chances of having a run in with the criminal justice system. The report, released today by the Australian Institute of Criminology, has found that children are more likely to offend if their parents have committed a crime. While this in itself is not a revelation, the authors say that a mother’s criminal influence over her children has been neglected prior to this study. They say the results could be key in breaking the cycle of criminality in families.
