Former NSW transport minister David Campbell resigned from politics in May last year for personal reasons – Channel Seven ran the story, with footage of him leaving a gay club. The inference was obvious, the public complained. As a result The Australian Communications and Media Authority conducted an investigation into whether the broadcast breached Mr Campbell privacy. The report from that investigation has been released today by ACMA, who have found that while the broadcast was an invasion of privacy, Channel Seven would be exonerated because the matter was of public interest.
