Australian bosses are turning a blind eye to mental health issues in the work place. That’s according to an online survey published today by SuperFriend, a superannuation industry initiative that aims to reduce the impact of mental illness on fund members. In a survey of 1,000 people, they found that 70 per cent did not have programs at work to support good mental health. With depression costing the Australian economy an estimated 3.3 billion dollars in lost productivity each year, advocates are saying it’s time to educate the workplace on mental illness.
