Hey bomb chucker – it sounds like a line of dialogue from a big budget, blow ‘em up action film. But the name ‘bomb chucker’ was not given to a faceless villain, it was instead a daily taunt used to embarrass and victimize Mohammed Abdulrahman, an Australian/Lebanese Muslim man working as forklift operator at Toll Express. On Friday, Mr. Abdulrahman was awarded twenty five thousand dollars in an action against Toll express for racial discrimination. According to Walid Kadous of the Australian Muslim Civil Rights Advocacy Network, the discrimination waged against Abdulrahman is not an isolated incident. Kadous reports that feeling of mistrust towards authorities prevent Australian Muslims from speaking out. Mohammed Abdulrahman spoke about his experience.
