Greens Senator Bob Brown spent this morning touring the lower lakes of the Murray and talking to locals who are quite desperate to get some water down the river. He and fellow greens and new independent senator Nick Xenophon are all running hard on the issue of the River Murray – on the first day of next week’s sittings they plan to move a motion to set up a Senate inquiry into the river, to find out what water is available, how it can be moved and at what cost. Bob Brown says the matter is too urgent to leave to the government.
