September 21 is the UN’s International Day of Peace – a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace among all nations and peoples. This year’s theme is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace. Yet the day is taking place against a backdrop of millions fleeing war-torn Syria,and Australia joining the US campaign top bomb key targets. Former Leader of the Greens, Bob Brown says former Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s thinking that ISIS “doesn’t respect borders so why should we?” is not only daft, but dangerous.
