A children’s book based on the events of Black Saturday is being launched on Monday, and will be distributed free to schools, libraries and families of bushfire-affected areas. The Uniting Church has funded the launch of “Black Saturday Was My Dad’s Birthday”, with the story being told from the perspective of author Kate Wilson’s son Kirk. Kate tells of her family’s narrow escape as the fires destroyed their home at Chum Creek, near Healesville in Victoria.
