Bill passed to film in National Parks
The controversial “Film Approval Bill” has now passed through the upper house of parliament in NSW. This follows a month long battle between the state government and environmentalists over the appropriate limits to commercial filming in National Parks and wilderness, an issue brought to the fore with the filming of the multi million dollar action flick, “Stealth”. Although NSW Greens were able to gain significant amendments to the Act, conservationists are disappointed with the move by the NSW Premier Bob Carr to water down the very same legislation that he himself introduced in 1987. Robin Mosman, representative of the Blue Mountains Conservation Society, spoke with She-Fah Szetu about the implications of the new Act.
