Big plans for small town at the heart of Kakadu

The Northern Territory town of Jabiru was built in 1982 to service nearby mines.

The lease will expire in 2021 and it was intended that the town would be shut down, but new plans are on the horizon.

A new vision would see the town transformed into a tourism hotspot encompassing traditional Indigenous heritage and telling the story of the true owners of the land.
