Bahraini’s demand human rights on anniversary of uprising

Today marks one year since the pro-democracy movement began in Bahrain. And little has changed since last year, when thousands of Bahrainis took over Pearl Square to demand rights from their government.

Human rights observers have voiced concerns about security forces using excessive violence on peaceful protesters. An estimated 60 civilians have been killed since the uprising began. Representatives from the Australian Bahraini community visited the New South Wales Parliament House today to call attention to the plight of Bahraini activists, who they say are being ignored by the international community.
