The island kingdom of Bahrain in the Iranian Gulf joined the Arab Spring last year, but with tight media restrictions the revolt went largely unknown to the rest of the world.

The issues was forced to international attention when doctors were arrested for treating civilians demonstrators who had been attacked by state security forces.Despite intense international pressure, yesterday the Bahraini regime decided to proceed with the trial.
