The international Australex language conference is underway in Adelaide, and this year the focus is on endangered words and signs of revival. Convenor of the conference and Chair of Linguistics and Endangered Languages at the University of Adelaide, Professor Ghil’ad Zuckermann, has a passion for waking up what he calls “sleeping beauties” – the dormant Aboriginal languages of Australia.
