In her book Australianama cultural commentator and film maker Samia Khatun takes the reader with her on her own journey of exploration into Australia’s Muslim past. She finds a different colonial history, one told through the eyes of the many Afghan Indian and south east Asian immigrants, and one often bound up with indigenous history as discrimination meant the two cultures existed as outsiders to the mainstream.
