Australians urged to consider mental health of older population

It’s R U OK day…and mental health advocates are urging Australians to consider the mental wellbeing of our older population.

Data from the ABS shows Australians over the age of 85 are more likely to attempt suicide than any other age group, a statistic campaigners believe is due to the increasing isolation elderly people may experience.

The message is particularly important on this nationally observed day.
