Gemma Sisia was 22 years old when she decided she wanted to change the world. Growing up in a large Catholic family on a sheep farm in Guyra NSW, she embarked on a life-changing journey to Africa as a volunteer teacher. A few years later, she was well on her way to opening her own school there. Starting with just three students, the school of Saint Jude’s in Tanzania has grown to more than 850 children with academic results among the highest in the country. However, the road’s been far from easy. Gemma’s written a book about St Jude’s and told the wire all about it.
