Australian technology provides boost for Lao farmers

Rice farmers in southern Laos currently plant their crops using transplant seeding, which is fast becoming unviable. It requires too much labour and depends on unreliable monsoon rains.

The Crawford Fund, in partnership with Dr Leigh Vial, has been working on affordable dry seeding technology. They’re encouraging Australian farmers to support Lao rice farmers in adopting the new technology.
