Veterans of the British nuclear testing in Australia have been fighting for compensation and recognition for years. Today’s announcement by the Minister for Veteran’s Affairs may signal some hope. But some are not so sure. Many of the Veterans who were exposed to nuclear fallout of British testing between 1952-1967 don’t currently qualify for compensation. Minister for Veteran’s Affairs, Warren Snowden, today announced that they will now be made eligible. But Government promises have proved empty in the past.
