The Australian Medical Association has joined forces with top youth justice experts to urge governments to address the root causes of child incarceration in Australia.

The report sheds light on disturbing issues in the youth justice system, including human rights violations and the over-incarceration of First Nations children.

AMA is calling for urgent reforms, including raising the age of criminal responsibility to 14, and banning solitary confinement in child detention.
