Australian Doctors are Over Prescribing Flu Antibiotics

An investigation by Dr Carla Bernado from the Adelaide Medical School found that doctors across Australia are over prescribing flu antivirals in patients exhibiting flu-like symptoms.
The study was conducted at 550 general practices with 4.2 million individuals who presented flu-like symptoms.
Patients who were at low-risk of contracting influenza were found to be given as many antivirals as those of high susceptibility.
