The government’s new border protection agency is facing a PR blunder of monumental proportions after it was forced to retract claims it would be stopping people in the streets of Melbourne and asking them for their papers. The release caused a flurry of activity on social media, questioning how the force were empowered to stop people in the streets and on what basis would they make their choices. Later a press conference was cancelled along with the operation itself.
