Calls to re-examine Australia’s .05 blood-alcohol limit could mean designated drivers will have to settle for one drink with their evening meal … and no more. The push for a review comes after Sweden and Norway changed their blood alcohol limits from .05 to .02 and saw an eight to ten per cent reduction in alcohol-related road fatalities. But will re-thinking the limit help reduce Australia’s road toll? Hannah Chipperfield spoke to Senior Research Fellow at Monash University’s Accident Research Centre, Dr Michael Lenne, about the Swedish experience and whether it will work in Australia.
