Federal opposition calls for nuclear ban to be scrapped

The Federal Opposition has criticised the Albanese government’s decision to withstand from signing a nuclear pledge to triple its capacity by 2050 at the COP28 Climate Summit.

The nuclear agreement was signed by 22 countries, including the US, France, the UK, and Japan. However, Australia has backed a pledge to triple its renewable energy capacity by 2030 and to double its energy efficiency. The Opposition have called for nuclear energy to be opened up to let the market decide on the energy source.
